Please bear with me, as I go through this long process of initially posting - and then sorting, matching, adding additional views of the artworks; and adding comments and insights. Of the drawings and paintings/pastel works, I have both pre-framed photos of them, and then pictures showing them after stretching and/or framing them, and also then installed on my walls. Of the pottery and sculptures, I have multiple views of them, taken at different times, and also between two different cameras.
I also have pottery which has cracked, and that I want to repair. Then too, I have some hand-formed, carved, and painted/fired ceramic tile pictures - which I look forward to mounting on cement, in hopes of forming the pictures my Mom intended them to be.
Along the way too, I'll add some pics and memories of this wonderful person, Mom, artist, garden artist (Master Gardener), etc. I also have BAGS of ribbons she's won, at the Minnesota State Fair, for baking like a bandit, and for her floral arrangements, etc. I'm not quite sure what I want to do with that massive ribbon collection yet...
On odd occasions, you will also see what I, her daughter, have felt inspired to do with some of my Mom's creations, things she has saved, etc.
I will start with my weirdest one first!
Okay, so, perhaps you remember the first U.S. man on the moon event? I do! My Mom let us hang around to watch it on T.V. It remember it was special. A lot of times like these too, she'd have fresh-baked cookies there for us too. We didn't have much money, but we had a lot of good times, thanks to my Mom. :)
Here, you can see one of the (4) life-size little child, gold spray-painted paper mache statues my Mom made. (My brother was very surprised, to find these in a couple of bags in my Mom's garage!) She had used them, for at least a couple of seasons, as decorations in her front yard. She made one to represent each of her four [living] children, when we were small. (She also had an additional little baby, named Mary Jo, who only lived one day. That was more than sad. It was not the only tragedy she suffered though!! She suffered through a LOT in her lifetime....but....it left her an amazing person - and a great artist.)
So, one more time here - please understand - that this was me, her daughter, working to clean out her artist mother's garage - I'm the one who sat up the golden paper mache boy and stuck the "moon landing" newspaper, which my mom had saved, in his hands. I wanted to preserve both these items, by photo. I like to think of this as making artful use of these things. If you find it "creepy" though, like someone told me, know that my Mom (I'm sure) never imagined me doing this - and so, blame me. :)
